How to link Nest Secure with Google Assistant

getting your nest home security system
to work with Google assistance so you can interact with it with your voice is
actually very simple I’m going to show you how to do it so the first thing you
need to do is the same for pretty much anything you’re doing with Google
assistant and Google home and that is to go into the Google home app and then we
want to press the little hamburger icon up in the top corner there and go down
and find a home control and that’s where your Google account is linked to all of
your smart home devices you can see at the moment I have a bunch of speakers in
here I have a camera and a smart switch as well so I would add the nest products
that I’ve got I’m going to click the plus button here and then we’ve got a
scroll all the way down to find nest as actually a lot of stuff connects with it
now click nest and I was already logged into my nest account so it’s brought up
the permission screen straightaway if you’re not logged in it’s going to ask
you to log in and then it goes through the permissions that you are giving the
system I’m just going to scroll down and click allow and that should be it and in fact there
are all of the nest devices the sensors themselves come up as individual these
are the door sensors the back door and the front door sensors there is also the
front door doorbell we’ve got a couple of cameras here and the thermostat and
the nest guard which is this this base station here so this should allow me now
to interact with voice let’s test it out I know one of the things I can say is
Google what’s the status of my security system the nest guard is disarmed the
back door is open oh we can arm or disarm as well Google set my security
system to away you got it you have one minute to exit the back door is open
saying two away in guarding Google cancel security sure canceling security
so I know what you’re thinking can anyone just walk into my house and
cancel the security well the answer is no you can only issue the cancel command
if it said within a few seconds of the armed command and only if you armed it
with your voice so if you arm it any other way or if it’s more than a few
seconds after you’re still going to need one of the nest tags or a key code to
disable the alarm well that’s how you can control your nest secure with Google
assistant it all seems to work rather well
