Smartphone makers required to install anti theft software

From now on, new smartphone models released
in Korea will need to come equipped with anti-theft features.
Korea’s science ministry is requiring smartphone makers to include so-called “Kill Switches”…
that enable owners to suspend all functions and restrict access if their device goes missing.
Samsung Electronics’s new Galaxy S5 model is equipped with the feature and LG Electronics
says its new models to be released this year will have the software.
Around 1-point-2-million smartphones were lost last year… and more than 3-thousand
units were smuggled out of the country in 2012,… three times higher than the previous
year.
