SURE Sales Group Ep. 68 | Elite Home Entertainment

– Welcome back to the Sure
Sales Group show, episode 68, and today I’m with Terry Vettas, the owner of Elite Home Entertainment. Maryland’s best home
entertainment solution. Here on the show we talk
about real estate, sales, negotiation, marketing, entrepreneurship, buying, selling, renting, investing, and what it’s taken us to
grow from two employees to 20. From 30 million in sales
to 130 million in sales in the last few years. Thanks for watching. Hey Terry, thanks so much for coming out. – Thanks for having me, Andrew. – I was so impressed with
what Terry did at our new home with lighting, sound, security,
I asked him to come on. So Terry, why don’t you tell
the audience a little bit about yourself, your company, so we can get to know you better. – I’m Terry Vettas with
Elite Home Entertainment. We’ve been in business 11 years. We specialize in home
theater, home automation, and home security. We do everything from
lighting to HVAC control to shading control to
home audio, home theater. Pretty much everything, we’ll
control your whole house. If it can be controlled, we’ll control it. – Yeah, so I was referred to Terry. I was talking about I had
some speakers in my house, I didn’t know how anything
worked, there’s wires everywhere, I’m not really mechanically inclined. And a mutual friend, a realtor, said, “You gotta call Terry, have
him come out to your house.” So I said, “All right.” Terry actually called me immediately. They show up on time, super
professional, low-pressure, and I just said, “Hey, dude,
I’m just trying to control “some of these landscaping lights” that I didn’t know how to turn on or off. And you guys came out and crushed it. Why don’t we start with some
of the most popular things people want to do in their homes. For me, it was lighting but
what are you finding out there when people are buying a home
or they’re trying to update, what are their go-tos? – Well, like we talked about,
the key things are lighting, are the big thing. To be able to control it from your phone whether you’re at home or away. If you have kids, the biggest problem that
every parent runs into is that the kids leave their
lights on in their bedrooms and you have that ability to control that. You could also create
events off of that as well. This way you could shut off
at a certain time of day or turn on at a certain time of day. Like we did for your house, we created the astronomical event to where basically sunrise, sunset. Lights on, lights off. That’s a big thing. Wireless audio is another
thing, we use SONOs for that. We find that it’s easy
to work with in a house, especially a lot of houses
in the Maryland area that are older, they’re
harder to get wires. So if you can’t retrofit, SONOs, like we used for your application,
was a good fit for ya. Then security, of course, everybody likes that
sense of security at home. Visually, you’re able
to watch over your house or actually secure your
system from an app as well to secure your doors,
windows, everything like that. – I was shocked at how easy it was. I thought this was going
to be some crazy process, it’s gonna be super expensive, but, literally, they installed
in my house six SONOs amps. I can control every room on my phone. It’s amazing. I can control every light on my phone and, like he said, the
scheduling was really important. If you have outdoor lights, like I have lights on my
deck and lights out front, astronomical clock. As soon as the sun goes
down, the lights come on. As soon as the sun comes
up, the lights turn off. That’s what people want in homes and what we’re seeing from
the real estate perspective is there’s serious value in that. Buyers don’t want to do a
whole bunch of stuff which is, obviously, why a renovated home will go for more than a slightly outdated home. But the millennial buyers, which make up for, I think,
over a third of the purchases, they really care about that. And it’s a task that, if they don’t have to do it themselves, it provides a lot of value. I’ve been referring
customers to Terry to say, “Hey, you have a single-family
home, it’s a little outdated. “Why don’t you spend two
to three thousand dollars “and have this whole thing tech-ready?” And it’s gone really well. So Terry, how does the process work when someone wants to engage Elite? – The first thing they’re
gonna do is they’re gonna, whether they get a referral
from you or one of our clients, they’re gonna get a number to call. Once they call that number, if they don’t get ahold of our office, it immediately pushes you to me. From there we set up an appointment, whether you want to come into
our store in Jarrettsville or if you would like for us
to come out to you, we can. We can bring our iPad which
shows you numerous array of selection of lighting, audio, video. Whatever you’d like to
see, we’re able to do that. After that, then we setup the
appointment for us to install, once you agree to
everything we’ve discussed. From there, then our guys come out, we’ll make sure we’re all
drop clothes, booties, the whole nine yards. Walk you through the system. After the systems installed, we’ll educate you on how to use the system and then we usually do a
follow-up as many times as needed to make sure you understand
how to use the system. – [Andrew] The couple things that I thought were
really beneficial were, you have all the products. We’re talking about Lutron, SONOs, you’re partners with Sony. I mean, literally anything you want, if you actually want to
buy the TV, the speakers, they have everything
and they have a showroom which is super nice. But you don’t even need the showroom when they just come out, show
you everything a la carte, and say, “Here’s your options.” Take none of it, take all
of it, take some of it. The other key thing is,
when your guys came out, they were so well versed with Comcast, obviously, people want their
TVs to work with the speakers and this and that, and I had
some issues with Comcast. I didn’t even have to use Comcast ’cause some of their techs
used to work for Comcast, we moved boxes around. You had an electrician there. We were reinstalling some speakers and it was so efficient that, my wife was like, “Are they already done?” I was like, “Yeah, it works.” Look, here, you can control this, I look like a million bucks. – There you go, that’s
what we’re here for. We basically try to
make it a one-stop shop. So we have master electricians on staff, all our guys are highly trained. We go through 90 day trainings, recurring throughout the year. We make sure all our guys are proficient in every application, whether it’s Comcast,
Verizon, DirectTV, Dish, because you always run into an issue. No house is ever the same. We love to make sure that you don’t have to
stress about anything. We want to be your person to go to. – [Andrew] You guys are
like the Amazon Prime of home entertainment. I click a button, you come out, here’s what I want, you come back out, and it’s done in two days. But the kicker here is,
and I think a lot of, probably, home entertainment
companies miss on this and it’s a fear that some
of the consumers have is, I don’t know how to use all this. If I’m gonna spend this money– – Absolutely. – Well, Terry came back
out and he made sure I knew how to work every little thing, set every schedule, and
I did a decent amount. I got six different zones of
speakers and some lighting and it can go so deep. You can control all your blinds, you can control every
single light in the house, you can control your HVAC. If you want your house
to work off an iPad, it’s unbelievably doable here in 2019 and it’s probably only getting easier. – Yeah, the big thing now is IOT, which is internet of things. So everything that’s basically app-driven, you’re able to control everything. Door locks, lights, HVAC, even toilets, anything and everything you can control. It’s a new age. – It is for sure. In closing, say you have a
normal row home in Baltimore City and you just want to be able to have sound on your rooftop deck and in your kitchen. What’s something like
that look like and cost and how would that process look like? – Well, actually this is a big area for us so we get a lot of calls
from real estate agents, like yourself, to actually do the rehabs. Because, as you can tell, they’re doing a big
renovation in this area. So basically, we’ll do a
two/three zone audio system with SONOs and then basically with that you’ll have app control
with some speakers. And it can range anywhere
from as small as, if you just want one
zone, maybe 1500 bucks. All the way up to three
zones, upwards of five grand, but it all depends on quality,
what kind of speaker– – Right, well you can go nuts. It’s like anything, you can
buy floors that are $20,000 if you wanted to. Attention to all builders, no one wants an amp where
you’re plugging in speaker wires and you have speakers that you can’t move. With SONOs, which I love, is
I can go buy a SONOs speaker. I can put a soundbar under my TV, I can have them floating around. So you can make it really affordable. If you just go buy a couple speakers and you just want a receiver and an app, you can pretty much control everything. – Yup, it’s an expandable system. It can do up to 33 zones
so you can grow with it as much as you’d like to. And it’s pretty easy for the user to actually add on to the
system if they want to. – It’s always good to
start with the base layer, like what I did. Hey, you can add on, you
can do as much as you want, but why don’t we just start with getting. You already have all these speakers, let’s get you to control
those and control your lights and that’s that. Perfect, done. But now I have the bones, the structure, where I can go hog wild. Which I’m not going to, yet. I got babies, man. I got mouths to feed. – We do financing too. – And they do financing. – Well, I couldn’t recommend Terry and Elite Home Entertainment any higher. It was a great experience. If you’re in the real estate business, if you’re a builder, or if you just want to make your home that much more enjoyable, have them come out for
a free consultation. Terry comes himself, on time,
in a sick branded truck. – Thank you. – That’s how you know they’re legit. I don’t want someone coming up in a Gelape trying to put some holes in my house. Wireless, internet of things,
Elite Home Entertainment. Thanks for watching. – Thank you. – Hey, Terry, we’ve done it 68 times. I can’t let you leave
without giving us a little oh by the way. – Oh by the way, we won’t be beat on price and our customer service is unbeatable. So, legally, we have the
best pricing in the market and we’ll make sure we
take care of your house and you’ll have a smart house in no time. – ‘Cause I asked him, I said, “Why don’t I just buy this on Amazon?” He’s like, “‘Cause it can’t be cheaper
than what I’m paying.” I love that, thanks again, man. – Yeah, thank you.
– Appreciate it. (upbeat music)
