YOU RARELY HEAR ABOUT PEOPLE LITERALLY HAVING TO FIGHT THEM OFF. .COUPLE IN PINE DID JUST THAT AND ONE OF THEM HAS THE SCRAPES AND BRUISES TO GO ALONG WITH THIS INCREDIBLE STORY. Reporter: THE MAN ATTACKED, 71 YEARS OLD, HE SAID IT WAS NOT A BIG BEAR, ALTHOUGH WILDLIFE OFFICERS ESTIMATE IT WAS AROUND 300-350 POUNDS. IN 12 YEARS, THIS IS THE SECOND AN JOHN JOHNSON AND GEORGE FIELD HAVE SEEN AT THEIR HOME IN PINE. THIS WAS AS CLOSE AS THEY COME. THERE WAS A BEAR IN THE HOUSE. IT ATTACKED MY HUSBAND. AND IT IS NOT IN HERE ANYMORE. THERE WERE LITTLE ONES IN THE HOUSE. I THINK Y’ALL OUGHT TO,. Reporter: ON MONDAY NIGHT, JOHNSON MADE HIS WAY UP THE STAIRS IN HIS HOME TO FIND A BEAR AND HER CUB EATING A LOAF OF BREAD IN THE HALLWAY. HE THOUGHT HE COULD SCARE HER OFF BUT ENDED UP GOING TOE TO TOE. SHE HIT ME ACROSS THE NOSE, IN TURN, I PUNCHED HER IN THE NOSE. FROM THAT POINT ON, WE STARTED, SHE SCRATCHED ME HERE, DID THE RAKE DOWN, A LITTLE BIT OF THIS. Reporter: GEORGE WAS NOT FAR BEHIND. I GRABBED THE BAT, CAME UP BEHIND HIM, I MISSED THE BEAR FIGHT. ALL HER NUMBER HONESTLY THINK WAS THIS BIG BROWN BLOB. Reporter: SHE SAID WITHOUT HESITATION, I TOOK A SWING.
