What can I do about my neighbour’s security camera?

What can I do about my neighbour’s
security camera? If your neighbour has a surveillance
camera pointed at your house and you are worried about your privacy, the best thing to do is talk to your neighbour about it. If this doesn’t work, you could approach
your local community justice or neighbourhood mediation center
for help resolving the issue Surveillance cameras operated by individuals
are not covered by the Privacy Act, but they may be covered by state or territory law, and the police may be able to help you
with very serious matters. For more information about privacy, visit our website at: www.oaic.gov.au

  1. Personally I don't think there is anything you can do. If I want to monitor my property to catch would be thieves, arsonists etc etc and I place cameras to observe all angles of approach and I just happen to be looking in the direction of your house or backyard that's just coincidence and maybe can't be helped! To turn a camera so it doesn't look at you might create a blind spot for me… not going to happen! For law enforcement to tell me I have to take it down or turn it is like them passing a law that says I can't walk down the street and look at people as I do… just isn't enforceable!

  2. Starting out with the weak fake happy guitar music, you just know this is going to be a stupid video. Talk about it? The cameras are there BECAUSE the neighbor is a jerk. You can't talk constructively to someone who uses cameras as a form of harassment.

  3. If a person is so fuckin bothered by a neighbours security camera in the first place, then obviously they have something to hide. Most people wouldn't even care. If anything it's more protective to the neighbourhood having one. I'd only be embarrassed about my neighbour catching me picking my nose or scratching my ass and then telling me about it. Bwahaha! But seriously, if you're that bothered by your neighbours camera….What are YOU hiding??? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. Nothing to hide nothing to worry about. Thatโ€™s my two pence worth. If anything Iโ€™d feel honoured that someone would want to film my mundane life!
